We may be in the middle of a heatwave, but it’s already time to turn your minds to tinsel, turkey and Christmas inventory. It feels like Christmas rolls around earlier and earlier each year – especially with the growth in popularity of Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
More and more customers are looking to snap up great deals, and heavily discounted items are becoming the norm for many retailers.
With this in mind, we recently held a webinar with Clifton Vaughan, Owner of Natural Baby Shower who shared his top tips for fault free festivities.
Natural Baby Shower is an award winning omnichannel retailer, selling a wide range of natural, organic and ethically made baby products. Over the past 10 years they have grown from selling products off their kitchen table, to having 25 members of staff, their own warehouse and boutique and turning over £5 million per year.
We’ve collated some of the top tips from the webinar below, or you can watch the recording here:
Avoiding mistakes
Mistakes are inevitable but some mistakes are common and easy to avoid – especially in the run up to the Black Friday weekend and Christmas. When you’re running seasonal sales, you are sure to gain an increase in traffic and sales to your store – it’s important to make sure your back office can keep up with this increased demand. One of the best and easiest things you can do to ensure you are able to cope with this demand is to start planning as early as possible. Build in contingency plans – when your offers are so time sensitive it’s important to have a solid backup plan!
Supplier communication
Having positive relationships with your suppliers is always important, no matter what the time of year is. When approaching the festive season, this relationship becomes even more crucial, and the earlier you start planning your seasonal stock, the better! Talk through your plans for Black Friday with your supplier – they may be able to offer you stock and deals you hadn’t thought of.
Automate
Having a reliable system in place which can help you automate time consuming processes, allows you to focus on the more strategic level of your business. The whole process, from an order coming in, checking the stock is available and sending out a delivery note can take as little as 6 minutes with the right tool in place. This allows you to provide great customer service and ensure customers remember your brand in the future!
